Florida Gives Losness 2nd Place
The Sebastian Inlet pro was the first event of the 2008 WQS season. Now that the event has been changed to a 5 star rating it means valuable points are on tap for american surfers to start the year with a solid result. The event consisted of a field of 192 surfers from around the world each trying to prove their skills are what it takes to make it to the top of the ratings by the years end. The event started with stormy conditions but later finished with clean 2-3 foot waves and plenty of sun. Mike Losness proved himself to be one to watch on this years WQS tour as he started the year with a 2nd place at the Sebastian Inlet pro. After advancing through his quarter final heat against Asher Nolan, it was as if no one could stop him in his route to the final. In the final Heat against fellow San Clemente resident Patrick Guduaskas, Losness pulled out all the tricks he could but fell short. With two minutes left Losness went from first to second after Guduaskas Pulled an array of maneuver's to score an 8.5 ride. None the less Losness couldn't be happier with his 2nd place result. 1750 Points for his first result on the WQS is a pretty place to be as the year starts.
